Town offers flu clinic for all residents on Saturday

Southborough seniors can get flu shots on Thursday

The Southborough Board of Health is sponsoring a flu clinic for seniors on Thursday, October 13. Southborough residents ages 65 and older will be able to get vaccinated at the Senior Center (9 Cordaville Road) from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Report says cancer rates in Southborough higher than in most Mass towns

According to a report released earlier this year by the Massachusetts Office of Health and Human Services, 141 men in Southborough and 117 women were diagnosed with cancer from 2003 to 2007. It’s a statistic that earns Southborough the dubious honor of being one of the towns in Massachusetts with the highest rates of cancer.

Late last year the Southborough Board of Health voted unanimously to ban the sale of tobacco products at pharmacies in town. Southboorugh is one of only a handful of communities that have such a ban, but there’s a chance that could change.

The first instance of West Nile virus was discovered in mosquitoes in Boston last week. Whether it moves our way remains to be seen, but if it does the first to know about it will be the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project.
