Try this experiment. Go get yourself a length of toilet paper. Now fold it in half crosswise. Fold it in half again and again. It won’t take long – maybe three or four folds – before the paper won’t stay folded anymore. Now try taking 53,000 feet of toilet paper and folding it in half over and over. That’s exactly what a group of students from St. Mark’s did last week.

In a post on their website earlier this year, St, Mark’s announced the construction of new faculty housing on campus. The school said the two new 4-bedroom housing units were made possible by the gift of an anonymous donor family.

In all the discussion about St. Mark’s lawn last week, some commenters also griped about bus traffic to and from the school on School Street and Latisquama Road. Residents along both roads presented a petition to selectmen last week asking them to do something about traffic they called “dangerous.”

I’ve had several readers ask me about the unusual mowing pattern on the St. Mark’s lawn this year. If you’ve driven down Main Street or Route 85, surely you’ve noticed that a large portion of the lawn has gone unmowed all spring, with the tallest of the blades now a good couple feet high.

St. Mark’s is adopting some changes to make their operations a bit greener. They eliminated the use of trays in their dining center to conserve water and cut down on wasted food.
