According to the Town Treasurer, Articles Southborough voters will be asked to support could trigger up to a 4.5% increase in taxes.

Single tax rate approved: Rate reduced but your bill may be a little higher

The board again approved a single tax rate for FY16.

The rate is a decrease from $16.02 to $15.82 per thousand (about 1.26%). However, assessors estimate that (excluding the Community Preservation surcharge) the average family’s bill will go up by 1.97% (or $176).

Vote for what you care about or someone else will

Recent conversations have made me realize that some residents don’t understand the power a single voter has at town meeting. Last year, each person who showed up represented 38 registered voters. That 2.6% decide whether to approve a budget or reduce it. So if there’s a budget you care about be there to support it.
