Over the next few months, the Southborough, Northborough, and Shrewsbury Rec Connect program will be holding more adaptive programs. The programs currently being promoted are geared to participants with a disability aged 15 years or older.
One of the events also allows family members (including as young as 6 yrs old) to join them.
Program promoted for September through mid-December include pottery painting, apple picking, parties, a zoo trip, and a Ladies Night Out.
As usual, registration for the programs is handled through Shrewsbury Recreation. According to their website, fall program registration is set to open tomorrow morning — Tuesday, August 19th at 10:00 am.
The programming partnership between the Recreation departments of the three towns is:
designed for participants with disabilities and their families and friends to come together and build meaningful relationships while enjoying recreational opportunities, leisure activities, events and community outings.
Here are the highlights on the next round of programs being offered (once again for ages 15+):
Family Night: Pottery Painting
Tuesday, September 9, 6:00 – 7:30 pm, (family members ages 6+ are welcome to also sign up)
Pottery Night for families who have a member with diverse abilities to relax, create, and connect. ($20 each)
Apple Picking
Saturday September 27, 9:00 – 11:30 am
Trip to Tougas Family Farm to pick a small bag of apples and enjoy a hayride. ($30 each, but bring extra money for additional purchases)
Spa Night – Ladies Only!
Friday October 3, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Pampering with skincare, manicures, and cupcake decorating. ($25 each)
Halloween Bash
Friday October 31, 6:00 – 8:30 pm
Movie night (Casper) with pizza and a sundae buffet. Costues encouraged ($10 each)
Sneaker Prom
Saturday November 8, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
The dinner and dancing party encourages participants to come as formal as they wish, as long as they wear sneakers. This year’s theme is “Hollywood Red Carpet” ($20 each)
Friendsgiving
Friday November 14, 5:30 – 7:30 pm
Play games and enjoy a buffet dinner featuring Thanksgiving favorites. ($15 each)
Winter Wonderland at Southwick Zoo
Thursday December 18, 5:00 – 9:00 pm, for ages 15+
Evening trip to the zoo decorated with holiday lights and displays. ($30 each, includes one hot chocolate)
