The Southborough Library is inviting 12–18 year olds to volunteer their artistic help during a special rock painting program this Saturday.
Rather than the “kindness rocks”, volunteers have decorated in the past, these Tribute/Memorial Rocks are meant to honor 16 heroes and victims that died in the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001.
The rocks will be put on display outside the library.
A flyer explains:
For this volunteering opportunity, teens & tweens are invited to show off their artistic talent. Led by a high school volunteer doing a community project, artists will decorate rocks commemorating sixteen 9/11 heroes and victims. Each hero has a thoughtfully prepared biography, and the library will share their stories with the community through a meaningful tribute rock display.
The library’s website clarifies that “All art skills” are welcome to participate. No registration is needed. Just drop in to the Library’s Eaton Meeting Room this Saturday, September 6th from 2:00 – 3:00 pm.
