Friday, September 5, 2025

  • Woodward Family Picnic (5:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Woodward School: SOS is holding this event for families of current students to socialize (and to raise some cash to support the school). For details, see dedicated post.
  • Opening Art Reception (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Apothecary Artists Studio & Gallery, 11 Main Street: The opening reception for an exhibit celebrating Native Plants and Pollinators will include refreshments. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Live Music with Jeff Thomas (8:00 – 11:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Jeff Thomas and Mario will perform classic rock. For details, click here.

  • TLT: Tribute Rocks (2:00 – 3:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: The library holds a monthly Teen Library Team volunteer program for ages 10-18 to make projects for others in need. This month volunteers will make Memorial Rocks to honor 9/11 heroes and victims. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: This week, the semi-monthly program shifts back to its school year schedule. Crafters ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects in a social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.

  • Playground Open House (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) @ Finn School Playground: Southborough Kindergroup is inviting the community to drop-in for a casual playdate with refreshments and to learn more about what the group for 0-5 yr olds and their parents/caregivers “has to offer”. 
  • Cub Scout Info Session (1:00 – 3:00 pm) @ Finn School Pavilion (behind the school by the playground): Kids in grades K-5 and their parents are invited to learn more about joining Southborough’s Cub Scouts pack. For details, see related post.
  • Free Ice Cream Social (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Heritage Park: The Tricentennial Committee will dish out free ice cream (one scoop per attendee), while they promote the committees’ plans and fundraisers. For details, see dedicated post.

Monday, September 8, 2025

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Knitting Club & Quilting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Weekly opportunity for senior crafters to work on their projects in a social setting, including knitting, sewing, cross stitching, needle point. For details, see related post.
  • Nature’s Classroom Parent Orientation (5:30 – 6:30 pm) @ Trottier Middle School auditorium: Trottier’s Orientation for parents of 6th Grade students going on the upcoming overnight Nature’s Classroom trip.
  • Cooking With Ploy (6:00 – 8:00 pm) @ zoom: Part of the Southborough Library’s free virtual cooking lesson series. This month is Sri Lankan Food. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • TLT: Food for Thought (5:00 – 6:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: The library holds a monthly Teen Library Team volunteer program for 6th – 12th graders to make projects for others in need. This is a special brainstorming session. Volunteers will brainstorm over snacks, sharing “ideas for events, fundraising, marketing, and more for the upcoming school year.” For details, see dedicated post.
  • Select Board Office Hours (6:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Town House Hearing Room, 17 Common St and zoom: Residents are invited to drop in to informally speak with two Board members about any questions, concerns or interests. This session will be hosted by members Andrew Dennington and Marguerite Landry. For details, see related post.
  • Poetry Workshop (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Bring in five copies of original poetry to share. The group will provide supportive feedback. If you don’t have a poem, come anyway and share your insights. (Meets twice monthly.)
  • Neary Parent/Guardian Curriculum Night (6:30 – 8:00 pm) @ Neary School: Event for parents/guardians of Neary School students to hear from their teachers about what students will be studying this year.
  • Navigating the Mental Health System (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Registration is required for this session put on by Southborough Youth & Family Services as part of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. Learn how to access mental health services, understand levels of care, and support loved ones in finding appropriate help. For details, see related post.
  • Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Elder Law Advice (10:00 – 10:45 am) @ phone or zoom: Southborough seniors can sign up for a free 15 minute session of individualized legal advice from an Elder Law attorney. For details, see related post.
  • Virtual Author Talk (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ online: Registration is required to take part in the free live talk with Q&A, “Argue Less and Talk More with Communication Expert Jefferson Fisher”. This is part of the Southborough Library’s virtual series featuring bestselling, award-winning, and highly acclaimed authors from around the world. For details, see related post.
  • Narcan Training (3:00 – 3:45 pm) @ Southborough Library: Register for free training to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses with a free kit. For details, see related post. Register here.
