Here are my highlights from Algonquin varsity sports competitions last week and the schedule for this week.
The Titans continue to have rough season start. Last week’s most successful Algonquin varsity team was Boys Soccer. They tied Westborough 1-1 before beating Shrewsbury 1-0. Their record is now 1-0-2.
Other Titans that scored wins or ties also added losses to their records.
Girls Field Hockey lost to Nashoba 2-0 before beating Wachusett 4-1. And Girls Soccer tied both Westborough and Concord-Carlisle 1-1, but they lost to Shrewsbury 3-1 in-between.
The remaining competing varsity teams made their records worse.
Gonk Football lost its season opener to Nashoba 30-27.
Boys Golf had a second straight week of losing. Their record is now 2-4 after losing to Wachusett and Shrewsbury.
Girls Volleyball had an even longer week, losing thrice to Hopkinton (3-0), Nipmuc (3-1), and Westborough 3-0. Their record is now 1-4.
This week, Cross Country teams will travel to their first meet of the season.
