On September 6th, a Southborough teen, Mila Nguyen, hosted an event at the library where teens designed rocks honoring the lives of people who died or risked their lives on September 11th, 2001.
Mila is an ambassador for Project 351, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to create a movement of youth-led service that transforms communities and makes the world a better place. Ambassadors participate in volunteer work every month. Hosting the event was Mila’s contribution to the organization and community this month.
Participants of the event read about a person either killed in the events of 9/11 or who died later but were directly involved. They then drew or painted a rock with a symbol related to the person. The rocks are now on display on the main floor of the library as a memorial of 9/11.
The rocks were put on display along with relating books to memorialize those who died or risked their lives in the events of 9/11.
