This month, Southborough Open Land Foundation is inviting the public to join them as the learn about fungi during a 2 hour guided “Mushroom Walk and Talk” at Beals Preserve.
Although there isn’t pre-registration, the opportunity will be limited to the first 30 participants that show up that morning.
The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 19th from 10:00 am to noon. But participants are instructed to meet up at 9:45 am. (And since the event is capped, I’d advise to show up by that time!)1
The group will gather in the preserve’s parking area in the field near Main Street. (Click here for the map.)
During the walk, participants will learn about “the basics of mushroom habits, identification, and ecology.” The event will “help prepare participants for safe, exciting forages of their own.”
The walk will be led by “mushroom enthusiast” Jonathan Kranz, VP of the Boston Mycological Club and a former park ranger.
