Here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town this weekend through the long weekend.

Friday, October 3, 2025

  • Dull Men’s Club (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: Casual social club for senior men. New members are always welcome to drop in. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Kids Jam (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Newborns through preschoolers are invited to dance and sing. No registration necessary. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library. For details, see related post.
  • Canasta (11:15 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group playing “Hand & Foot”. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Trottier Middle School Dance (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Trottier Middle School gym: A free “Casual School Appropriate Attire” dance with a DJ for Trottier students only. SOS will sell snacks and drinks for $1 each, cash only. Students should have a ride waiting for them at 8:30 pm. To attend, the permission slip must be submitted by Wednesday, October 1st.
  • Live Music with Mojo Ride (8:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Live music performed by David Bazin’s blues & classic rock band out of Worcester. For details, click here.

Saturday, October 4, 2025

  • Drive Thru Flu Clinic (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School, 79 Bartlett St, Northborough: This Greater Boroughs free vaccine clinic is for Southborough, Northborough, and Boylston, residents ages 6 months and older. (Although, it won’t include the high dose shots recommended for seniors.) Pre-registration is required. For details, see dedicated post.
  • DIY Gulbankian Workshop (1:00 pm) @ Gulbankian Florist, 40 Mt Vickery Rd: There is a registration fee and attendance is limited. This session is to make a Mini Succulent Pumpkin Trio. For details, see related post.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Semi-monthly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.
  • AVRTHS Homecoming Dance (6:00 – 9:00 pm) @ Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School: The high school’s annual student dance. (Deadline has passed for buying tickets.)

  • Shannon’s Path Dog Walk (10:00 am) @ Neary School, 53 Parkerville Rd: 4th annual fundraiser benefiting rare cancer research and care in memory of Shannon McDonald. Dogs are encouraged but, not required. A BBQ will follow the 5K walk.. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Knitting Club & Quilting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Weekly opportunity for senior crafters to work on their projects in a social setting, including knitting, sewing, cross stitching, needle point. For details, see related post.

  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • The Incredible Journey of a Water Drop (4:30 – 5:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Pre-registration is required for 6-10 yr olds to participate in this free, interactive program about conservation and protecting the water supply. The program is led by Mass DCR. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Cook Book Club (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: This month, select recipes from What to Cook When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking by Caroline Chambers to make and share at the gathering. New participants are encouraged. For details, see related post.
  • Poetry Workshop (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Bring in five copies of original poetry to share. The group will provide supportive feedback. If you don’t have a poem, come anyway and share your insights. (Meets twice monthly.)
  • Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Elder Law Advice (10:00 – 10:45 am) @ phone or zoom: Southborough seniors can sign up for a free 15 minute session of individualized legal advice from an Elder Law attorney. For details, see related post.
  • Flu Clinic for Seniors (10:00 am – 12:3 0pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: This Town-run clinic with the high-dose vaccine is for Southborough seniors. Registration is required. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Narcan Training (3:00 – 3:45 pm) @ Southborough Library: Register for free training to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses with a free kit. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Baby/Toddler Storytime (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: A weekly program for ages 0-2 years with their parents/caregivers. Each session will include puppets and music. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Drop in Legos (3:30 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Children are invited to build with Legos and display their creations in the Children’s Room. Legos will be provided. Parents or caregivers must stay with children.

  • Virtual Author Talk (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ online: Registration is required to take part in the free live talk with Q&A, “10 Years of Daring Heists and Lovable Outcasts in YA Fantasy with Leigh Bardugo”.   • Pumpkin drop-off (4:00 – 6:00 pm) @ Common Street: Drop-off your carved or decorated contributions to the Pumpkin Stroll display on the stone wall around the Old Burial Grounds. 
  • Pumpkin Stroll (6:00 – 8:00 pm) @ line up begins in front of 25 Main Street: The community is invited to view the big display of jack-o-lanterns. Sponsored by Southborough Rotary, which will be offering free refreshments and giveaways, while collecting donations for the Food Pantry from their latest needs list. Heritage Day, Monday, October 13, 2025

  • State holiday (for Columbus Day / Indigenous People’s Day): No public school. Town offices, Senior Center, and Library are closed.
  • Heritage Day (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) on the St. Mark’s field (at the intersection of routes 30 & 85) and nearby locations: The the annual town celebration of our community. While it honors the town’s history, it is rooted in the present, bringing together different segments of the community. For details, see dedicated thread.
    • Town Parade (10:00 am): The Town’s biggest annual community parade departs from St. Anne’s Church on Boston Road, proceeds down Main Street, ending at Marlborough Road and St. Mark’s Street.
    • Heritage Day (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) on the St. Mark’s field (at the intersection of routes 30 & 85): Booths with exhibiting community groups, non-profits, and local vendors.
    • Friends of Southborough Library Book & Bake Sale (10:00 am – 3:00 pm) @ Southborough Library parking lot: One free book per child. Selling used books, and more. There will also be a Bake Sale table. For details, see dedicated post.
    • Fire Station Open House (11:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ Public Safety Building: The Southborough Fire Dept will open its garage bay to offer tours, live demos, and more. For details, see dedicated post.
