Save the Date for a rescheduled Pumpkin Stroll on October 26th! (Updated)

I know many readers were disappointed when Southborough Rotary’s annual Pumpkin Stroll was cancelled. Some may have read my hints last Friday that the Friends of the Southborough Library might step up to put on a rescheduled version.

I can’t share all of the details yet. But I can tell you to save the date for a stroll the evening of October 26th!

Some details are still being worked out between the Friends and Rotary about how a potential partnership may work. But I can promise that, unless lousy weather interferes again, some version of the event will be held a week from Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

So, stay tuned for more news!

Updated (10/17/25 11:17 am): I added the time for the display. I’ll also add a little clarity below on may above announcement about a potential partnership, since I heard some Rotary members were surprised by it.

Because Rotary leaders informed me that their members and volunteers were spread too thin this month to put on a rescheduled event this month, The Friends of the Southborough Library (which I’m president of) volunteered to hold a replacement event this year. We got the greenlight from the Town and public safety for an October 26th event.

Then I learned that a Rotary leader believed some of their members might want to also be involved in the rescheduled stroll. Plus, they may have some supplies and resources to provide in support of the event. He wanted to check in with their group and get back to me.

With that pending in the background, I didn’t want to simply describe it as a Friends-run event. But I also needed to start sharing news, since participants need enough lead time to start making their pumpkin decorating plans!
