It’s a busy week in Southborough! Here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town tonight through next weekend.

• Live Music with MDM Project (7:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: The band will perform “Yacht rock”. For details, click here.

• Yoga on the Trails (9:00 am) @ Sudbury Reservoir Trail: This free event for adults is put on by Southborough Trails Committee for National Parks & Recreation Month. Registration is required. For details, see related post.
• Read to a Dog (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Kids ages 5+ can read to a therapy dog. Registration is required. For details, see related post.
• Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Semi-monthly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.
• Deerfoot Coffee House (2:00 – 5:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 27 Main Street: The free event features two local musical artists, plus an open mic. For details, see dedicated post.
• Opening Art Reception (6:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Apothecary Artists, 11 Main St: Opening Reception for a photography exhibit “Visual Storytelling through Street Signs and Fashion” by Chelsea Bradway of All Things Sparkley Photography, working with Fashion Stylist, Brooke Kanal. • Mushroom Walk (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Beals Preserve: The Southborough Open Land Foundation is sponsoring a 2-hour mushroom walk and talk. Attendance may be capped. For details, see dedicated post.
• Rotary Oktoberfest (1:00 – 5:00 pm) @ the Gazebo, 19 Main St: Live music, sales of food and beer. Entertainment will include the Patriots game on TV and sing-alongs. For details, see dedicated post.
• St. Mark’s Messy Church (4:00 – 6:00 pm) @ St Mark’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 27 Main St: A worship experience for busy families of younger kids. Includes a Bible story theme with activities, crafts, and a shared meal. For details, see related post. (This month, it’s running one week early.)

• NSBORO Schools are Closed: Due to the religious holiday Diwali, observed by some community members, Northborough-Southborough Public Schools are closed for the day.
• Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
• Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
• Knitting Club & Quilting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Weekly opportunity for senior crafters to work on their projects in a social setting, including knitting, sewing, cross stitching, needle point. For details, see related post.
• Reading Buddies (3:30 – 4:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Registration is required for this program (weekly Oct 20th through Dec 15th) that pairs readers in training (ages 5+) with teen reading buddy volunteers. For details, see dedicated post.

• Understanding ADHD Seminar (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Registration is required for this session put on by Southborough Youth & Family Services as part of ADHD Awareness Month to to help families, educators, and community members better understand Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. • Crafternoon: Painting Mini-Pumpkins or Skulls (4:30 – 5:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Pre-registration is required for this free program for ages 8+. For details, see related post.
• Fabric Pouch Art (6:00 – 7:00) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Pre-registration is required for this free program for teens and adults. Participants will make a personalized piece of art that is functional, too. For details, see related post.
• Virtual Author Talk (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ online: Registration is required to take part in the free live talk with Q&A, “Finding My Way with Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai”. • Young Scientists STEM Beginnings (10:15 – 11:00 am) @ Southborough Library: This is a free series for children, ages 3-6 to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts through hands-on activities, story time and simple experiments. For details, see dedicated post.
• Baby/Toddler Storytime (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: A weekly program for ages 0-2 years with their parents/caregivers. Each session will include puppets and music. No registration required. For details, see related post.

• AWC Night Against Procrastination (6:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School: Algonquin Writing Center invites students who need to work on college essays to join them that night for pizza and snacks and a quiet place to work. Registration is required.

• DIY White Pumpkin Centerpiece Workshop (6:30 pm) @ Gulbankian Florist, 40 Mt Vickery Rd: There is a registration fee and attendance is limited. This session is to make pumpkin and floral centerpiece. For details, see related post.

• Tech Time (3:30 – 4:30 pm) @ Southborough Library teen room: The public is invited to stop by the library for help with your technological devices. Staff can assist with library apps, research databases, and more!
• ARHS “GLOW-CO” Homecoming Dance (7:00 – 10:00pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School: Casual dance for Algonquin students. Students will receive glow accessories when they arrive, and the Donut Food Truck will be selling treats. To purchase $10 tickets, click here.

• Hazardous Waste Day (time) @ Public Works Yard (downhill from Transfer Station): Southborough will host Household Hazardous Waste Day where residents can safely dispose of items like pesticides, auto batteries, solvents, and more. A valid Transfer Station sticker is required to participate, and fees apply for TV and computer monitor disposal. . For details, see dedicated post.
• Library Halloween Party at Fay (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Fay School Primary School: Fay School is again hosting the Southborough Library’s annual Halloween party for kids. Includes a story time, costume parade, and concert. No registration required. For details, see dedicated post.
• Art Reception for “Evolution of a Memory” (1:00 – 3:00 pm) @ Apothecary Artists, 11 Main St: Opening reception for the Art Exhibition by Donna Merrell. For details, click here.
