When I originally posted news about this year’s Gobble Wobble, I included the wrong link in one place for volunteer signup. So, I’m promoting the request for volunteers again, along with a reminder of the event details.
Friends of Southborough Recreation is hoping a flock of volunteers will sign up to help make the feel good fundraiser run smoothly.
For those looking to sign up to walk/run in the 19th annual Thanksgiving event, click here to register.
For those not familiar, the Gobble Wobble combines a 5K timed race with a 2 mile family-friendly walk.
The annual event is offered to support “community health, togetherness, and spirit”. But is also the Friends of Rec’s big annual fundraiser. Proceeds help support community recreation (facilities, programs, etc.)
As has been the case since 2023, No dogs will be allowed on the course.
The walk and run start at 8:30 am on Thanksgiving (November 27th). Check in begins at 7:00 am that morning, with an early check in available the day prior — 12:00 – 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 26th.
Early Bird registration costs are $35 per adult and $25 per child (ages 1-18). (In person registration for the 5K run is higher on Thanksgiving morning.) A discount is also available for “Immediate family in same household of 5 or more”.
As always, medals will be awarded for overall Male and Female runners, plus by age group.
And speaking of the honors by age group. . . A special new detail this year for families with children attending Neary School. For just $10, Neary students can sign up for a one-day after school program on Tuesday, November 25th — the Neary Gobble Wobble 5K Prep Run. Kids will use Trottier’s outdoor track for practice. Preregistration is required (and due at least a week prior). You can learn more and sign up here.
As for the Thanksgiving Day event, that course begins and ends outside of Trottier Middle School at 49 Parkerville Road using area roads. For more details or to register, click here.
To volunteer for a shift helping out the day prior to the event or morning of, click here.
Thank you to the sponsors of this year’s Gobble Wobble. (See image right.)
And reminder, the community’s fun run for kids isn’t on Thanksgiving. That event (the Turkey Trot, run separately by Southborough Kindergroup) will take place ten days earlier on Sunday, November 17th. Read more about that here.
