With the exception of the Thanksgiving Day game, Algonquin’s varsity sports are over for the season. Here’s a look at how the final competitions played out this fall.
On Saturday, ARHS Cross Country runners competed at the State Meet of Champions.
Only two members of the Boys team were able to compete as individuals. Junior Stephen Green finished in the top 50,at 47, out of 188 runners.
The Girls Team scored 14th place out of 23 teams. None of the Titans made the top 50, but Freshman Kyra Brossi was close. She finished 53 out of 191 runners.
Gonk Football hosted Doherty on Friday for its final game in the MIAA Division 2 playoffs consolation series. The 32-12 loss was their 7th in the 10 week season.
Fortunately, it looks like the odds will be in their favor for holding onto the Joseph Mewhiney – Richard Walsh trophy this year. They’ll travel to play the Westborough Rangers in the annual Thanksgiving Day rivalry match.
The Rangers had an even worse record than the Titans, winning only once this season. (And even that win over Groton-Dunstable last Friday was a smaller margin than Algonquin’s win over the same team two weeks ago.)
