One Southborough based non-profit that I didn’t include in my Giving Tuesday posts was New England Center for Children.
Instead, I’m sharing news about an ongoing fundraiser for the institute for students with autism that you can support, that could also make your holidays a little easier.
Part of NECC’s program for students ages 14 and older is vocational services. One of those job programs is assembling seasonal/custom gift bags.
The school promotes:
Gift bag assembly provides students the opportunity to practice work skills such as following directions, completing tasks to criterion, completing seated work, accepting feedback, incorporating feedback into their work performance, and increasing duration of work. Students are paid minimum wage for gift bag assembly!
The school is again selling Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, and winter themed gift bags. (They also offer other themes.) This time of year, orders can usually be ready for pickup within a couple of days. (If you need them shipped, build in some extra time for that.)
Prices range from $1.50 to $3 per bag, and come in sized small, medium, medium-long, and large. (See the order form for dimensions.)
You can also buy a bundle for $15 (3 small, 2 medium, 1 medium long, 2 large). (See examples from a past year below.)
Beyond the holidays, NECC sells gift bags (with other designs for different occasions) all year long. Examples include events like weddings and baby showers.
To purchase bags, open the order form with instructions here. Or email Julie LeBlanc at jleblanc@necc.org with any questions.
