Here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town this weekend through next weekend.

Friday, December 5, 2025

  • Girl Scout Holiday Sing-along (6:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Community House Lawn: Free annual event for all families in Southborough. An old-fashioned holiday sing-along with some modern touches. Capped off with hot cocoa and treats. (Participants are encouraged to bring a gift to donate to Project Just Because.)
  • DIY Workshop: Ladies’ Night Out – Boxwood Trees (6:30 – 8:00 pm) @ Gulbankian Florist, 40 Mt Vickery Rd: There is a registration fee and attendance is limited. For details, see related post.
  • ARHS Winter Ice Skating (8:00 – 9:00 pm) @ North Star Rink, 15 Bridle Ln, Westborough: Pre-registration (with a permission slip) and a fee are required for this event for Algonquin students of all grades, run by ARHS Class of 2028. For details, and tickets, click here.
  • Live Music with Candy Criminals (8:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: The high-energy rock band from Worcester will perform. For details, click here.

Saturday, December 6, 2025

  • Cub Scout Wreath Sales (9:00 am – 3:00 pm) @ Transfer Station: Scouts will be selling wreaths for $20 (this year with choices of ribbons) and boxes of Hanukkah candles for $15. They’ll also be at the Kids Shop (see event below) from 10-2.
  • Annual Kids Shop (9:00 am – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center, 9 Cordaville Hall: An annual Southborough tradition. Boy Scout Troop 92 provides a safe haven for kids to do their own holiday shopping. While waiting, adults can enjoy a bake sale and coffee. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Christmas Bazaar (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 27 Main Street: Featuring the White Elephant and craft sales, a silent auction, basket raffle, a lunchtime Café, and more. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Holiday Tree Party (10:30 am – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Kids are invited to drop-in to enjoy candy canes and make ornaments to hang on the library holiday tree. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library. For details see dedicated post.
  • Holiday Book Sale (11:00 am – 3:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: The Friends of the Southborough Library will be holding a special sale with DVDs, CDs, and a Bake Sale. One free book per child. For details see dedicated post.
  • Arts and Crafts Fair & Southborough History & Arts Center Grand Opening (11:00 am – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough History & Arts Center, 42 Central St: The Southborough Historical Society is holding and open house to celebrate the opening of it’s new location in the renovated, historic Fayville Hall, combined with an Arts & Crafts Fair for holiday shopping.   • Winter Wonders Pottery Workshop (12:00 – 3:00 pm) @ 21 Highland St: Registration and a fee is required for this Recreation class for 10-15 yr olds to craft ornaments and gifts. For details, see dedicated post.
  • St. Anne’s Lessons and Carols (6:00 pm) @ St. Anne’s Church, 20 Boston Rd: The service of Lessons and Carols will take place after the 5:00 pm mass.
  • WCC Holiday Show (7:00 pm) @ Gibbons Middle School, Westborough: The Westborough Community Chorus will perform its annual Holiday Show, “Winter in the Woods”. For details, click here.

Sunday, December 7, 2025

  • Santa Day (10:00 am – 1:00 pm) @ Community House, 28 Main St: Free event for the community. See Santa arrive by helicopter (or fire engine in case of inclement weather). Then join him and Southborough Kindergroup at the Community House for activities and refreshments before kids share their wishes with Santa while posing for a picture.   • DECA The Halls Craft Fair (10:00 am – 1:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School Cafeteria, 79 Bartlett St, Northborough: Fair of local vendors selling only handmade goods. The event is a fundraiser for ARHS’ DECA program. To learn more, click here.
  • DIY Workshop: Festive Holiday Door Swag (1:00 – 2:00 pm) @ Gulbankian Florist, 40 Mt Vickery Rd: There is a registration fee and attendance is limited. For details, see related post.
  • NACC Concert (2:00 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School Auditorium, 79 Bartlett St, Northborough: 53rd Annual Christmas concert “Songs of the Season”. For details, click here.
  • WCC Holiday Show (2:00 pm) @ Gibbons Middle School, Westborough: The Westborough Community Chorus will perform its annual Holiday Show, “Winter in the Woods”. For details, click here.
  • Handel’s Messiah Concert (3:30 pm) @ Pilgrim Congregational Church, 15 Common St: The annual concert by the Messiah Community Chorus performing selections from Handel’s Messiah. For details, see dedicated post.

Monday, December 8, 2025

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Knitting Club & Quilting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Weekly opportunity for senior crafters to work on their projects in a social setting, including knitting, sewing, cross stitching, needle point. For details, see related post.
  • Reading Buddies (3:30 – 4:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Registration is required for this program (weekly Oct 20th through Dec 15th) that pairs readers in training (ages 5+) with teen reading buddy volunteers. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Forest to Faucet (4:30 – 5:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Registration is required for this free hands-on program run by DCR for ages 6-10 that uses a model to explore keeping water clean. For details, see related post.
  • Select Board Office Hours (6:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Town House Hearing Room, 17 Common St and zoom: Residents are invited to drop in to informally speak with two Board members about any questions, concerns or interests. This session will be hosted by members Andrew Dennington and Marguerite Landry. For details, see related post.
  • Poetry Workshop (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Bring in five copies of original poetry to share. The group will provide supportive feedback. If you don’t have a poem, come anyway and share your insights. (Meets twice monthly.)

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Elder Law Advice (10:00 – 10:45 am) @ phone or zoom: Southborough seniors can sign up for a free 15 minute session of individualized legal advice from an Elder Law attorney. For details, see related post.
  • Meditations for the Nations (4:30 – 5:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s Church Parish Hall, 27 Main St: The church invites community members troubled by “division, unrest, and fear in our country” to share concerns with others and take part in guided and silent meditation. The bi-weekly program is open to all. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Butterfly Feeders (4:30 – 5:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Registration is required for this free hands-on program for ages 8 yr old – teens led by Jane Goodall Institute’s Roots & Shoots program. For details, see related post.
  • DIY Workshop: Rustic Wooden Box (6:30 – 7:30 pm) @ Gulbankian Florist, 40 Mt Vickery Rd: There is a registration fee and attendance is limited. For details, see related post.
  • Southborough Rotary Club (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Southborough. New and prospective members are always welcome. (Held on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month.)
  • Friends of the Library Meeting (7:30 – 8:45 pm) @ zoom: Monthly meeting of board members and volunteers to discuss funding library requests and planning for upcoming fundraisers.   • Baby/Toddler Storytime (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: A weekly program for ages 0-2 years with their parents/caregivers. Each session will include puppets and music. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Drop in Legos (3:30 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Children are invited to build with Legos and display their creations in the Children’s Room. Legos will be provided. Parents or caregivers must stay with children.
