The high winds have led to outages across town, impacting traffic lights, and at least two “impassible” roadways..
Looking at National Grid’s outage map, it appears the outages are scattered, and not many customers impacted. But according to their “by Town” list, 114 “customers” are currently without power. (Each customer represents a home or business/building. So the number o people is higher.) Southborough is only about a dozen.
And an alert late this morning from the Southborough Police Department warned that outages have impacted traffic lights. Plus, downed trees were blocking Woodland and St Mark’s roads.
At 11:34 am, the SPD posted:
Multiple power outages throughout Town, including the traffic lights on Route 9, Boston Rd, and Framingham Rd. SPD and SFD responding to multiple locations to handle incoming calls. MASS DOT and National Grid have been notified and are responding. Please drive safe during this high wind weather event.
Reported outage locations:
Turnpike Rd, Boston Rd, Carriage Hill Cir, William Onthank Ln, Central St, Meadow Ln, Valley Rd, Walnut Dr, and John St.
Power lines on fire on Edgewood Dr.
Tree down across Woodland Rd just south of the Mass Pike overpass. Traffic is impassable and DPW is on the way.
Tree down and blocking St. Marks Rd- also impassable.
