Here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town this weekend through next weekend.

Friday, December 26, 2025

  • Town Closures: The Senior Center is still closed, but the Southborough Library and Transfer station reopen for regular hours. The Town offices will be closed, but some staff will be working from home that morning.
  • Adult Game Day (10:30 – 3:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Join fellow gamers to learn and play some new board games! Gamers are invited to try the library’s games or bring their own from home. For ages 18 and up. For details, see related post.

Saturday, December 27, 2025

  • Wood Book Box (11:00 am – 1:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Registration is required for this free program for kids ages 12 through adults. Participants will create and decorate a faux book. For details, see related post.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Semi-monthly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.
  • Teen Board Games (2:00 – 4:00pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Teens are invited to play some board games with Ms. Marianna.

Monday, December 29, 2025

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Visit With the Snow Sisters (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Special visitors (who look a lot like princesses Elsa and Anna to me) will be visiting children at the library to share stories, songs, dancing, and pose for photos. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library. Pre-registration was required. For details, click here.
  • Knitting Club & Quilting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Weekly opportunity for senior crafters to work on their projects in a social setting, including knitting, sewing, cross stitching, needle point. For details, see related post.
  • Reading Buddies (3:30 – 4:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Registration is required for this program (weekly Oct 20th through Dec 15th) that pairs readers in training (ages 5+) with teen reading buddy volunteers. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Cookie Swap (5:00 – 6:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Teens ages 11-18 are invited to bring in cookies to swap with others. Plus some fun activities. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • New Year’s Eve Day Party (2:00 – 3:00pm) @ Southborough Library, Children’s Room & Eaton Room: Children of all ages are invited to ring in 2026 a few hours early at the library! Join us for New Year’s themed crafts, activities, and snacks! Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library.
  • Live Blues Jam n’ Open Mic (8:00 – 11:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Come play or sing with the house band and fellow musical talent, or just enjoy the show. For details, see related post.

New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, 2026

  • Town Facilities Closed: Town offices, the Southborough Senior Center, Southborough Library, and the Transfer Station are closed for the federal holiday.

Friday, January 2, 2026

  • Dull Men’s Club (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: Casual social club for senior men. New members are always welcome to drop in. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Canasta (11:15 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group playing “Hand & Foot”. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
