Since Southborough doesn’t host any special events related to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the holiday that honors him, I’m again sharing news of the annual, nearby Community Celebration.
The public invitation comes from a Southborough resident who is among the event organizers hoping to engage other Southborough residents in the event being held at Westborough High.
Keri Probst asked me to share the details with readers. Organizers promote:
Local residents of all ages from communities across the central MA and MetroWest region are invited to come together to honor Dr. King’s legacy. We will focus on how to live Dr. King’s dream today through dialogue that promotes belonging for all.
The event on Monday, January 19th begins at 4:00 pm, with activities for children through adults.
Adults and teens will be invited to take part in a conversation facilitated by Dr. Kalise on this year’s theme: “From Dreams to Dialogue: Creating a Community Where all Belong”.
In a different part of the building, kids will participate in “a special interactive program. . . developed by Westborough’s Pre-K-8th grade Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator, Tara Gestrich, and students from Westborough High School’s Black Student Union.”
For all ages, the event will be capped off with a community potluck dinner:
Attendees are invited to bring a special dish to share. Members of the WHS Fine Arts Strings Quartet will welcome attendees into the event and the evening will conclude with a special performance by Learning First Charter School’s STOMP Team.
