I got the early morning wake up call from the schools. There will be a 2 hour delay for Southborough public schools and Algonquin Regional High School today. (Based on weather reports, I’m guessing it’s to allow enough salting of roads to deal with the freezing rain.)
Of course, this means that morning preschool is cancelled and the Senior Center will be closed.
This is the first snow delay this school year.
In the past, Superintendent Gregory Martineau posted information about the school’s process for determining when to delay or cancel school. His message noted:
While our goal is to remain in session, the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. . . Like weather forecasting, the school-closing decision process is not a perfect science.
