The Southborough Police Department issued a second press release today on another arrest made yesterday. This time, the driver was charged with illegally carrying a large-capacity, loaded gun and allegedly concealing his identity through the use of a license plate from a different car.

Southborough Police Arrest Washington Man on Gun Charges Following Traffic Stop
SOUTHBOROUGH — Chief Ryan Newell reports that the Southborough Police Department arrested a Washington state man on gun charges following a traffic stop.
[A 35 year old man from Yakima, Washington], was arrested and charged with the following:
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
- Possession of a Large-Capacity Feeding Device
- Possession of a Large-Capacity Firearm
- Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card Southborough Police Department
- Attaching Wrong Plates to Conceal Identity
On Tuesday, Jan. 20, at approximately 11:19 p.m., Southborough Police Patrolman Jeremy McClosky spotted a vehicle traveling on Turnpike Road with a registration plate mostly obstructed by snow.
Officer McClosky initiated a traffic stop, identified the driver as [the suspect] and determined the vehicle’s Utah registration had been canceled and traced back to a different vehicle.
Following an inventory search prior to towing the vehicle, police discovered a loaded and unregistered handgun inside a blue backpack in the vehicle. The firearm had a 9mm round loaded in the chamber and eight more rounds in the magazine. An additional round was found underneath the driver’s seat.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and [the suspect] was transported to the Southborough Police Department for booking.
[The suspect] is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Westborough District Court.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
