The announcement has already gone out this afternoon. Southborough and Northborough will not have public school tomorrow (Monday). The same is true for Assabet Valley Regional Tech High School.

That means the Southborough Senior Center and any other program that mimics the school’s policy is also closed.

Since I posted about the storm yesterday, the forecast total Sunday through Monday snowfall has been upped to 18-24″ for Southborough.

For those of you keeping track of the impact to the school calendar – this is the first snow day this school year, pushing the last day of school to Monday, June 22nd.

In the fall, Superintendent Gregory Martineau posted a link to the annual FAQs on how the schools make their cancellation decisions. It includes:

One of the most challenging responsibilities of the Superintendent of Schools is deciding whether to delay or cancel school due to inclement weather. New England weather can be highly unpredictable and may shift significantly within hours of a forecast. While our priority is always to keep school in session, the safety of our students and staff is our highest concern.
