NSBORO Schools Seeking Volunteers for AI Study Group

The Northborough-Southborough Public Schools is putting together a study group to make recommendations for how district should deal with AI’s impacts on education and appropriate use of it in schools.

Today’s NSBORO newsletter included a call for volunteers:

The Northborough, Southborough, and Northborough-Southborough Regional School Committees have charged the Superintendent to form an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Study Group for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. If you are interested in serving on the study group, please complete the [Interest Form] by Friday, February 13, 2026.

The group will explore how AI impacts teaching and learning, equity and access, data privacy, and appropriate use of AI in schools. The Study Group will serve in an advisory role only and will present recommendations to the Superintendent of Schools.

Earlier this month, the Community Advocate covered a discussion on the topic at the Regional School Committee’s December meeting. That included:

The group will study the impacts of AI on student learning, look at policy, and ultimately recommend “guiding principles” for the district. [Superintendent Gregory Martineau] said the group will look at how AI could help personalize learning for students and its potential impacts on student privacy.

“AI is not going away. It’s embedded. It’s ubiquitous,” Martineau said. “It’s embedded in all the tools and resources that we use, so we need to better understand how we’re using them, how we can impact student learning, and how we can improve efficiencies as a district.”
