Next week, the Heritage Chorale will entertain with “A Literary Journey” featuring songs from musicals based on stories that moved from “Page to Stage”.

The concert is the group’s annual Winter Pops. (It won’t be held in town, but I’m sharing the news since it is one of the regional choral groups that includes Southborough members.)

The chorus is promoting ticket sales for the Saturday, February 21st concert. It will take place at Fuller Middle School in Framingham at 7:00 pm.

On Facebook, the group promoted this year’s theme:

Composers find inspiration in the worlds brought to life by writers, and audiences are enriched by these often asynchronous collaborations.

The Facebook post includes a long explanation about “Into the Woods”, from which the chorus will feature a medley. You can read about that here.

For other songs, the chorus website promotes that the “musical adventure” will includes ones that are familiar “and perhaps others wonderfully new”. It links to sample clips of the following works:

  • Make Our Garden Grow (from Candide)
  • Seasons of Love (from Rent)
  • Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat (from Guys and Dolls)
  • Where is Love (from Oliver)
  • My Fair Ladies (a medley from My Fair Lady)
  • Get Me To the Church on Time (from My Fair Lady)

Plus, the Facebook post mentions “Godspell”, “Man of La Mancha”, and “Ragtime”:

This concert is again part of Mass Cultural Council’s Card to Culture program offering discounted admission to for people enrolled in some needs-based programs (EBT, WIC, and ConnectCare). But to take advantage of that offer, you need to submit your info by Wednesday, February 18th.
