Donald Luther Meserve, born January 16, 1957, in Southborough, Massachusetts, to Dr. Edwin and Dr. Marilyn (Moses) Meserve, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Don was a man whose life was defined by deep, unwavering devotion, to his wife, his daughters, his grandchildren, and the life they built together. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 45 years, Mary (Hamann) Meserve; his four cherished daughters: Molly Conway (John) of Clifton Park, NY; Katie Shahrestani (Neil) of Bloomfield Hills, MI; Rebecca Zeyak (Doug) of Queensbury, NY; and Cheryl Meserve (Jimmy) of Ticonderoga, NY. He also leaves behind his brothers John (Nancy) Meserve, Jay(Julie) Meserve, Tom (Kathy) Meserve, and Chuck Meserve; his sister Beth(Fadi) El-Massih; eleven grandchildren (Colin, Olivia, Hudson, Luther, Myles, Jackson, Charlie, Walton, Madeline, Isabella, and Theodore) who adored their “Papa/Grampy” with all their hearts, and many cousins, nieces, a nephew, and friends.
Raised in Southborough, Don later attended Paul Smith’s College, where fate brought him together with Mary. Their love story began there and blossomed into a lifetime of partnership. Soon after, the young family moved to family property in Ticonderoga, New York. Here Don and Mary completed their dream: a beautiful log cabin constructed almost entirely by their own hands and raised their daughters. His last years were spent on the shores of Lake George at Adirondack Camp as a cherished member to their organization.
Don was the ultimate family man. His love for Mary was significant, to his daughters, he was a supportive father who never missed a single event, especially a sports game or milestone. He made his family his life’s true work. Pouring his heart into every moment they shared. His grandchildren found him to be a gentle giant whose lap was always open, whose stories were endless, and whose hugs felt like home.
Don’s quiet strength, warm humor, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed, not only by his wide circle of family and friends, but most profoundly by Mary, his daughters, and those eleven grandchildren who were lucky enough to call him “Papa/Grampy.” Though his physical presence is gone, the legacy of love he built endures in every laugh, every memory, and every beat of the hearts he held so dear. He will be remembered for his deep respect for others, for never judging a book by its cover, and for always being there when you needed him most.
Rest in peace, Donald/Don/Dad/Grampy/Papa. You were loved beyond measure.
There will be a home burial with family/friends and a Celebration of Life to follow at Silver Bay Association On February 28, 2026 @ 3pm.
