The regular season cutoff for high school Ice Hockey and Basketball is this Thursday, with brackets to be released this weekend and post-season tourney’s kicking off next week. Some Algonquin teams are using February break to try to fit in some more wins through invitational tournaments.
Other ARHS teams have already been competing in post-season championships over the past week.
Here’s an updated look at the highlights and this week’s schedule.
Girls Hockey finished the regular season without breaking their winning streak. They’ll enter the state tourney with a 20-0 record after beating four more teams since I last posted: Franklin 8-0, Grafton 2-0, Notre Dame 2-1, and Hopkinton 5-3.
Hudson Athletics posted photos from the recent senior night for the co-op team:

The Titans are currently power ranked #3 below Notre Dame and St. Mary’s for Division 1.
Boys Hockey shut out opponents in their last three games, scoring 8 points against Grafton, 4 against Westborough, and 1 against Marblehead. That last game was the first round of the Newburyport Bank Classic. MetroWest Daily News reports:
Nicholas Robbins made 19 saves for the Titans (8-8-2) in the Newburyport Bank Classic semifinals. . .
JD Faulconer scored the winner [in the] second period for Algonquin with assists from Kyle Frutman and Colden Churchill.
They move on to play Newburyport in the Finals tomorrow. The Boys are currently #24 for Division 2 with an 8-9-2 record.
Girls Basketball lost to Shrewsbury 44-33 last week and 37-61 to Medway this afternoon. Today’s game was the first round of Westborough’s 23rd annual Invitational. It’s unclear if consolation games will be scheduled for the quarter final losers. The team currently has a 10-9 record and is ranked #22. Even if their regular season is done, they will play in the D1 post-season tourney.
Boys Basketball’s winning streak isn’t as long as Girls Hockey’s, but it’s not too shabby. They’ll be hoping to extend it to 8 games tonight. Last week, the Titans beat Shrewsbury 67-44 and Clinton 69-52. With a with a 14-4 record, the team is currently ranked #25 for D1. According to photographer Jeff Slovin’s post, the Shrewsbury win made the Titans the MidWach A Champs. Photos below from the night include senior night highlights:

According to the Telegram, Titans weren’t the only teams that ARHS was routing for last week. T&G wrote about a watch party that the high school hosted for the Olympics Mixed Doubles Curling Finals:
“Our Champion Korey Dropkin!” Students and teachers paused the normal school day Tuesday, Feb. 10 to watch its Class of 2013 alum Dropkin and his partner, Cory Thiesse, compete for the gold medal against Sweden in Italy. (read more)
