Southborough Youth & Family Services asked me to share news about it’s latest bi-monthly newsletter.

SYFS’ January & February newsletter features:

tips for rebuilding routines after the holidays, highlights on healthy relationships at all ages, and a look at Winter Wishes, our annual program that provides holiday support to Southborough families.

(Note: I know it’s late for January news. Scroll down for that explanation.)*

As always, SYFS newsletter is written to inform the community about:

  • Updates on upcoming programs, events, and workshops
  • Mental health and wellness resources for all ages
  • Prevention initiatives and community highlights
  • Information on financial and need-based supports available to residents

The newsletter opens with a welcome intro from Director Sarah Cassell. The following pages are broken into sections and “Spotlights”, including:

    • Brief description of the range of SYFS’ Mental Health support services
    • January Spotlight: Why Routines Matter During Transitions
    • February Spotlight: Healthy Relationships at All Ages
  • Prevention Programs & Resources
    • January Spotlight: How to Get Back on Track
    • February Spotlight: Connecting in Comunity
  • Southborough Spotlight
    • The newsletter highlights Business Administrator Janet Bartolone as “the heartbeat” of the department, and often the first person residents connect with.
    • Looking back, SYFS shares that the Winter Wishes annual holiday giving program supported 26 families, “helping children and adults celebrate the season”
  • Financial and Need-Based Services
  • Appendix
    • Details on SYFS’ Mental Health Services
    • SYFS Info Sessions (topics they cover and “delivery options” for getting their information/training)
    • Promoting the need for volunteers for the Friends of the Southborough Youth Commission
    • More resources and details for Financial Needs support (including help paying for heat).

You can read the full newsletter here.

If you have questions or are in need of support from SYFS, you can contact staff at syfs@southboroughma.gov or call (508) 481-5676.

*Since the newsletter issued late last week features January Spotlights and begins with a Happy New Years message, I inquired about the delayed distribution.

SYFS’ Program Coordinator explained that the publication was initially planned for later than usual to give people time to settle back into routines after the holidays. Then other “high-priority projects” delayed it further. But they expect the next issue to return to the regular bi-monthly schedule.
