Beals Preserve Parking lot temporarily closed

Southborough Open Land Foundation asked me to share an announcement with readers. They have temporarily closed the parking lot at Beals Preserve. But access to the site does remain open to visitors. Below are more details.

SOLF announced:

Beals Preserve parking during lot remediation (edited from SOLF map)Southborough Open Land Foundation’s Beals Preserve parking area on Main Street is closed for remediation as required by the Conservation Restriction on the property. Visitors who wish to enter Beals Preserve from Main Street can park at the intersection of Northborough Road and Main Street and walk over. The parking area has been a wonderful addition but right now needs some TLC. In the future, there will be seasonal closures to protect the remediation. Watch our Facebook page and our SOLF.ORG website for updates.

I edited the trail map (above right) to show where parking is currently closed and highlight where it is still available.

With today’s lousy weather, a walk at the preserve doesn’t feel too inviting. And the long term forecast isn’t promising a return to last week’s warm temps. But there will be days mild enough that you may be tempted to get out and explore.

So, I’ll share below images that SOLF posted on Facebook late last March, highlighting that there is nature worth seeing even during what I think of as the dreariest time of the year:
