5th-8th graders can learn from Women in STEM

The Northborough Jr Women's Club is again holding the special one-day conference with workshops to inspire girls

Above: For 18 years, middle school girls have enjoyed exploring a world of STEM based careers thanks to a local women’s club. There’s an opportunity to do that again this spring. (2018 images previously cropped from Northborough Junior Women’s Club website)

If you want to encourage your 5th – 8th grade daughter(s) to explore a future in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math, take note.

The Northboro Junior Woman’s Club is putting on its annual STEM conference. As usual, the opportunity is also open to Southborough residents.

The 2025 NJWC Women in STEM event is Saturday, April 11th. (The deadline to sign up is April 4th, but I always suggest acting quickly. Enrollment is capped and your kids’ top choices for the workshops could also fill up in advance.)

The 18th annual conference will be held at Algonquin Regional High School from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.

After an opening presentation, the girls will be able to attend four interactive career workshops, followed by “lunch and networking”.

Organizers promote:

My long term colleague, Martha Michalewich, has been involved in this program for as long as I can remember. I know how hard Martha and her fellow NJWC members work to put on this event. It is a remarkable event designed to encourage our daughters to consider entering a STEM field. Women continue to be underrepresented in STEM fields so this is an opportunity for young girls to see very successful women role models in many interesting areas. I hope there are many girls from Southborough who attend. It could be life altering for them.
