In case it snuck up on you, I’m reminding readers about the popular community event taking place tomorrow morning — Southborough Kindergroup’s Easter Egg Hunt.

This year, the free event is moving to Trottier Middle School (49 Parkerville Road). The event is Saturday, March 21st from 10:00 am – noon in the area of the school’s outdoor track.

Easter Egg Hunt on a wet day many years ago (photo by Joao Melo)The great news is that rain coming tonight is expected to clear up in plenty of time for the event. But, I would warn families to bundle up for a chilly start with wind gusts. And in case the fields are wet, choose appropriate shoes/boots.

Organizers have asked families to pre-register the number of children who will be participating (by age) to help them plan the free fun. You can sign up here.

While the Kindergroup event is a long running community tradition, there have been some changes over time. One thing that never changes is the core attractions — candy filled “eggs” and a visit with the giant, friendly rabbit.1

Kindergroup Egg Hunt flyerThis spring, activities include free ones that were added to the fun last year — a DJ playing music, face painting (by Skyrise Theater), and refreshments.

The “Pre-Hunt” activities will begin at 10:00 am. That includes posing with the Easter Bunny. (Though, unlike their Santa Day event, families need to bring their own cameras/smartphones to capture the moment.)

As Kindergroup introduced last year, the egg hunts are now split by age groups. The youngest group, ages 0-3 years, will begin “promptly at 10:30 am”. That will be followed by 4-6 year olds, then ages 7+.

As always, families should bring their own baskets with them to collect the plastic eggs.

2026 Sponsors of Southborough Kindergroup Easter Egg HuntThe free activities are made possible by their “generous Presenting Sponsor, Southborough Community Fund, and Bach to Rock as our Supporting Partner.”

If tomorrow doesn’t work for you, or you want a repeat of egg hunting fun this spring, Algonquin’s Honor Society is holding their free event a week later on March 28th. Read about that here.

  1. Note: I’m not counting the alternative, remote events held during the pandemic when in-person social gatherings were paused. (In 2020, Kindergroup invited the community to participate in an Easter Bunny themed scavenger hunt. In 2021, they added a “golden basket” prize to the scavenger hunt, plus drive thru visits with the Easter Bunny.)
