The Southborough based group protesting “anti-democratic action and extremist rhetoric” is inviting the community to join their efforts this week.
Tonight, “Stand Up Now!” organizers are hosting a poster-making event.
The signs will be needed when they join a No Kings rally in Boston this Saturday.
The Boston rally is one of many organized locally as part of an internationally promoted protest movement. (Scroll down for more on the movement and the rally.)
As I’ve previously posted, the “Stand Up Now!” group was formed by Southborough residents to hold regular public demonstrations in Southborough and work to spread their “pro-democracy” message.
The group has also participated in other regional events hosted by groups with similar missions.
This Saturday, March 28th, SUN members plan to travel to the NO KINGS Boston rally on the Boston Common. They are inviting the community to join them and to help prepare:
The third No Kings March will be the largest nationwide protest event in American History! Join us for events on the 23rd and the 28th!
Join us on the night of March 23rd 6-8 pm in Southborough for a poster making party!
We’ll have poster supplies, snacks, desserts, and beverages. We’ll also talk about what it’s like to attend a protest and tips for how to navigate and enjoy the event. Drop in anytime during the party, suggested donation of $10 for supplies.
March 28 – Join the SUN delegation to the Boston No Kings Event!
SUN is organizing car pools from Southborough that morning, then meeting up at Newton Center to take the Green Line to Boston. Attendees can also join them their at their planned meetup spot to head to the rally on the Boston Common that afternoon.
For more details and to RSVP to both/either events, click here. (And to sign up for SUN’s email list, click here.)

As for the larger movement, The No Kings website shows events organized across the globe and promotes:
In America, we have No Kings.
We are showing up together again on March 28.When our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink, silence is not an option. We will defend ourselves and our communities against this administration’s unjust and cruel acts of violence. America does not belong to strongmen, greedy billionaires, or those who rule through fear. It belongs to us, the people. . .
As President Trump escalates his attempts to control us, it is on us, the people, to show that we will fight to protect one another and our country. If he believes we will roll over and allow him to take our freedoms, he is mistaken. We are coming together again on March 28 because we know we can overcome this repression when we unite.
If you are interested in the concept but can’t (or don’t want to) go to the Boston event that afternoon, there are also smaller local rallies planned in directly neighboring towns. The No Kings website shows rallies organized in Marlborough, Hopkinton, Ashland, and Framingham. Times vary with events in the morning and afternoon. You can find details using the interactive map here.

Great I was trying to respond to this ridiculous event and it was deleted before I could finish. I guess we know where you folks stand on this issue! But then again it is Massachusetts!!
I don’t know what you are referring to by “it was deleted”. But it sounds like you think there was some kind of intentional interference. Perhaps you experienced a technical glitch? I can’t see comments until they are submitted.
Beth could have been technical glitch but this wasn’t the first time thus happened. My comment was about why these “No Kings Activists ” ignore what went on under two prior presidents . Now we have one who is doing the right thing instead of intentionally destroying this great country.
I don’t know why you are having glitches. But it has nothing to do with the content of the comment. A comment has to be submitted before I see it. At that point, if I chose to block it for some reason, I would communicate with you directly about that. And this is a one-woman-show. There’s no one else behind the scenes who could have done it.
As for the content of your comment, I couldn’t disagree with you more about the current president. But I don’t disagree with your right to state your sentiment.
I understand you folks and why you don’t like our current president but maybe you folks should go visit some of these third world countries run by dictators and how the people are treated. But I have resigned myself it is a waste of time dealing with these people who believe what they claim .
Oh Yea, one more thing pretty bad when these NO KING protestors ignore the fact that both Obama and Biden funded one of the largest terrorist supporting countries to further develop their Nuclear weapons. Granted some of the funds was their’s but not one cent went to the poor defenseless citizens. Gee not one protest about that. But guess what no more access to nuclear weapons which they would undoubtedly use against Israel and even us. NO KINGS THERE/??
