Southborough Organization for Schools (SOS) asked me to share news about two fundraisers. One of them is taking place over the weekend. The other is running now through Monday.
The theme tying them together is “Out with the Old” and “In with the New”.
Textile Recycling Drive
Friday, March 27th through Sunday, March 29th
For the past several years, the public has been encouraged to donate textiles at bins outside of each NSBORO school. Normally, the funds raised from the bins are dedicated to the SOS/PTO chapter for that particular school.
But there are times when bins are too stuffed to donate more. That’s why the SOS is bringing in a special collection trailer before promoting the public to clean out their closets. The trailer will be in the Woodward School parking lot, but all of the SOS Chapters will split the proceeds from the fundraiser.
One of the great things about the SOS textile collections is you don’t have to sort between items that are good enough for thrift stores and those that are worn-out, stained, or even ripped. They also collect textiles beyond clothing.
The vendor will pay them by the pound and recycle the items in poor condition.
Acceptable items to donate include clothing, shoes, accessories (hats, gloves, bags, etc), household linens (towels, sheets, pillows, blankets, etc), and even stuffed animals. (For the unacceptable item list see flyer above right.)
All of the items must be bagged. And please do not leave on the ground outside of the trailer.
Southborough Merch Store
Open through Monday, March 31st
Once you’ve gotten rid of clothes you’ll no longer wear, you might be in the mood to add something new to your wardrobe.
SOS’ Merch store is selling “Southborough-branded” clothing, accessories, and gear here.
