Now through the end of April, a Southborough based company is offering the community a chance to support the Southborough Library, while enjoying mac & cheese that is better for their families.
For every online order or local in-store purchase of packages of Mac Goodness, $10 will be donated* to The Friends of the Southborough Library.1
Southborough residents Jad Chahine and his wife Juliana launched Mac Goodness based on their personal experience as parents of young children. They promote their products as having no fillers or junk. (Scroll down for more on that.)
The couple wants to use the promotional offer as a way to give back to their community. Chahine tells me that they chose to support the Library that their family loves.
The fundraiser offers customers two ways to participate. Purchases can be made online or at one of two local stores:*
- Simple Enough Natural Foods, 18 Lyman St., Westborough
- Volante Farms, 292 Forest St. Needham
Mac Goodness is sold in classic cheddar and three other flavors — spinach, carrot, and carob. The owners promote:
Filling Without Fillers
Our family loves mac and cheese, but not the unnecessary ingredients many brands, even organic ones, add.
We tirelessly searched for the best ingredients we could find, and created nutritious recipes that are simple, wholesome and kid friendly.
- Clean Mac & Cheese: No Junk. No Fillers. Low Sodium. 50% to comperable brands.
- Nutritious: Just 3 or 4 Certified Organic Ingredients. Rich in Protein, Calcium, Vitamins and Minerals.
- Taste Approved: Every recipe was approved by our toughest critics, our kids.
As for why the couple decided to get into the business, their website explains:
Like most parents, we wanted easy and comfortable meals our kids would actually eat. With Mac and cheese being their favorite, most of the options, even the organic ones were filled with stuff we did not feel great about. Gums, preservatives, flavors that were not real, and ingredients we could not pronounce.
The Start of Mac Goodness
Since the summer of 2023, we tried dozens of recipes and tested countless combinations. We sourced the best organic ingredients we could find, experimented with different pastas, and explored everything from veggies to superfoods.Along the way, we learned that not every “superfood” is right for kids. Some are hard to digest, some are not good in larger quantities, and too strong in taste.
Our kids were the final taste testers. If they did not finish their plate, it did not make the cut.
