Highlights from last week’s competitions and what’s on tap this week in Algonquin Regional High School varsity sports.
In their home opener, ARHS Girls Softball beat Fitchburg 3-2. Photographer Jeff Slovin shared on instagram this “classic moment”.

Gonk Baseball lost its opener to Lincoln-Sudbury 3-13.
Boys Rugby tied their home opener against Hanover 26-26. Girls Rugby lost their opener to Cambridge Rindge & Latin 15-48.
Girls Lacrosse lost 6-8 to Westborough and 8-13 to Shrewsbury last week. That updates their early season record to 1-3.
Boys Lacrosse is at 0-3 after losing 5-13 to Westborough and 1-10 to Shrewsbury.
Boys Volleyball suffered its second loss, 0-3 to Marlborough. But they also scored their first win, 3-2 over Bay Path.
No results were posted from Girls Golf‘s season opener.*
The season openers planned last week for Boys & Girls Tennis’ were cancelled. Both teams opened their seasons this afternoon by playing against Shrewsbury.
This week is also the start of Outdoor Track & Field. The teams will be competing in duel meets against Wachusetts. [Note: The ARHS Athletics schedule shows the Boys competing on Friday, but their team page lists it as Wednesday, the same as the Girls team. I’m not sure which one is correct.]
