Is there an Article headed to Annual Town Meeting this Saturday that you know you would like to propose an amendment to?
Town Clerk Jim Hegarty is asking voters to plan ahead and complete and submit an amendment form in advance.
Often amendments are made on the floor by voters reacting to what they are hearing in presentations and public comments. But there are also frequent instances when it is clear that a voter came with a motion they planned in advance.
Pre-submitting the form will allow Town Clerk Office staff to have the typed motion ready to go, to quickly project on the screen. Otherwise the process can hold up the meeting by several minutes. (At the most recent Special Town Meeting, just one motion to amend resulted in discussion being paused for 15 minutes.)
You can find the amendment form here.
