CPC seeking CPA applications by Monday, plus info for 5 year plans

If you want Community Preservation Act funding for a project to be approved at Annual Town Meeting, apply by 9/15. And if you're thinking about seeking funding within the next five years, now is the time to help the CPC plan ahead.

The Chair of the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) asked me to share an announcement with readers. It reminded that the deadline is looming to apply for funding in the fiscal year July 2026–June 2027.

Applications must be submitted by this Monday to be included on the Warrant for the Annual Town Meeting this spring.

But the committee is also hoping to hear soon from people who are in preliminary planning stages for seeking a grant further down the road.

For those not familiar with the kinds of projects qualify for Community Preservation Act (CPA) funding, you can read my June post here.

That post was to promote the CPC’s annual forum to walk people through the application process. If you are interested in applying and didn’t attend/watch the forum, you may want to view the video here.

Even if you’ve been through the process in the past, be aware that the CPC updated its handbook and application within the past year. You can find the updated links to both on their website here. The deadline for the next round of applications is Monday, September 15th.

The committee’s goal is to review the submissions and and meet with applicants to go through details, in time to make a decision by December 30th about which projects to bring forward to the next Annual Town Meeting.

A message from Chair Lisa Braccio also promotes:

In addition, the CPC is currently working on creating a 5-Year Plan. If your Department, Board, Committee, or Commission has any potential projects — even those in the early discussion stage — we’d like to hear about them so they can be added to our potential project list.

If your group would like more information or would like to speak further, we can arrange for a CPC liaison to connect with you for a discussion.

You can email her on the topic at lbraccio@southboroughma.com.
