The Mass Dept of Conservation and Recreation is teaming up again with the Southborough Library to teach school aged kids about the importance of conservation for protecting the community’s water supply.
Last month I shared details on their Nature Story Time program for little ones this fall.
The agency is now scheduled to hold two free, interactive programs for older children, 6-10 year old. Registration is required for each.
The first session, “The Incredible Journey of a Water Drop”, is this Tuesday, October 7th at 4:30 – 5:30 pm in the Eaton Room:
The MA Department of Conservation and Recreation returns to the library to teach about the journey of a water drop. Roll the dice to journey through 9 stations of the water cycle as a water molecule, determining potential pollutants and solutions along the way. Collect a bead at each station and use them to make a bracelet or keychain to keep.

On Tuesday, December 9th, DCR will return (same time, place, and age group) to hold a hands-on workshop titled “Forest to Faucet“:
Ever wonder how forests help keep our water clean? They act as natural filters, slowing down rainwater, preventing soil from washing away, and absorbing pollutants as water seeps into the ground. At this hands-on workshop, you’ll get to explore this natural filtration process by building and experimenting with a simple water filter model.
Register for that session here.
