Here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town this weekend through next weekend.

Friday, October 31, 2025 — Halloween

  • Trick or Treating: In Southborough, the Halloween holiday is celebrated on the day of the holiday (regardless of day of the week). There aren’t official rules, but Trick or Treaters typically start ringing doorbells around dusk.
  • Halloween Night Karaoke (9:00 – 11:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Karaoke fun with a costume contest and prizes. For details, see click here.

Saturday, November 1, 2025

  • Scouting for Food Route Selection (8:00 – 10:00 am) @ Pilgrim Church: Families of town scouts can pick up their bags with flyers and their routes for promoting Scouting for Food this weekend. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Semi-monthly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.

Monday, November 3, 2025

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Knitting Club & Quilting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Weekly opportunity for senior crafters to work on their projects in a social setting, including knitting, sewing, cross stitching, needle point. For details, see related post.
  • Reading Buddies (3:30 – 4:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Registration is required for this program (weekly Oct 20th through Dec 15th) that pairs readers in training (ages 5+) with teen reading buddy volunteers. For details, see dedicated post.
  • NSBORO Superintendent Office Hours (6:30 – 7:30 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School’s Career Resource Center: In-person office hours provide a time and space for parents and guardians to connect with the Superintendent about questions, feedback, or concerns about their student or their experience with The Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough.

Tuesday, November 4, 2025

  • Senior Center Program Registration opens (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: The window will open to register for the Senior Center’s November & December programs. Registration can take place in person at the center or speaking with someone over the phone (not by leaving a message). For details, see related post.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Drop in Legos (3:30 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Children are invited to build with Legos and display their creations in the Children’s Room. Legos will be provided. Parents or caregivers must stay with children.
  • Southborough Community Needs Assessment: Findings & Analysis (6:30 – 8:00 pm) @ Public Safety Training Room or via zoom: Findings & Analysis: Southborough Youth and Family Services is inviting the community to hear what they learned from their community focus groups and survey and discus how to better address needs.   • Cook Book Club (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: This month, select recipes from The Choi of Cooking by Roy Choito to make share at the gathering. New participants are encouraged. For details, see related post.
  • Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Virtual Author Talk (2:00 – 3:00 ) @ online: Registration is required to take part in the free live talk with Q&A, “Community, Power, and the Search for Indigenous Identity with Award-Winning Journalist Joseph Lee“. This is part of the Southborough Library’s virtual series featuring bestselling, award-winning, and highly acclaimed authors from around the world. For details, see related post.
  • TrailBlazers meeting (3:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: The group for active seniors holds a monthly meeting to plan upcoming activities. Any seniors interested in helping or learning more are welcome to join them. For more details, see related post.
  • Meditations for the Nations (4:30 – 5:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s Church Parish Hall, 27 Main St: The church invites community members troubled by “division, unrest, and fear in our country” to share concerns with others and take part in guided and silent meditation. The bi-weekly program is open to all. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Crafternoon: Gnomes (4:30 – 5:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Pre-registration is required for this free program for ages 8+. This session, create your own desk gnomes (with their own hats). For details, see related post.
  • Read to a Dog (6:30 – 7:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Children ages 5+ can sign up to read a short book of their choosing to Perla, a certified therapy dog. Please by emailing kivers@southboroughma.com.
  • Southborough Rotary Club (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Southborough. New and prospective members are always welcome. (Held on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month.)
  • Friends of the Library Meeting (7:30 – 8:45 pm) @ zoom: Monthly meeting of board members and volunteers to discuss funding library requests and planning for upcoming fundraisers.   • Mah Jongg (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: The weekly program would love new players to join. Feel free to stop by to watch or talk to one of the players to see if you would be interested. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Young Scientists STEM Beginnings (10:15 – 11:00 am) @ Southborough Library: This extra final date was added to the  free series for children, ages 3-6 to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts through hands-on activities, story time and simple experiments.   • Baby/Toddler Storytime (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: A weekly program for ages 0-2 years with their parents/caregivers. Each session will include puppets and music. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Blood Drive (12:00 – 6:30 pm) @ Southborough Library parking lot, 25 Main St: The Bloodmobile will be collecting blood. (If no spots are available to book, walk-ins are always welcome.) For details, see related post.

  • Therapy Dog (10:30 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Destress and relax by spending some time with a certified therapy dog. Anyone who wants a bit of time to relax with a friendly pup can stop by.
  • Dull Men’s Club (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: Casual social club for senior men. New members are always welcome to drop in. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Rhyme Time (11:00 – 11:30am) @ Southborough Library: New weekly drop-in program for babies and toddlers (and parents/caregivers). Join Ms. Jenny for rhymes, songs, and more fun every Friday!
  • Canasta (11:15 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group playing “Hand & Foot”. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Tech Time (3:30 – 4:30pm) @ Southborough Library Teen Room: Stop by the library for help with your technological devices. Staff can assist with library apps, research databases, and more!.

  • Scouting for Food: Collection drive for the Southborough Food Pantry. If you received a bag with a Scouting for Food flyer over Halloween weekend, leave it filled with donations by your mailbox by 9:00 am this morning. Volunteers will pick it up. Otherwise, you can bring items to Pilgrim church between 9:00 am and noon. For details, see dedicated post.

Updated (10/31/25 8:56 pm): The pickup time for scouting for food roots on November 1 is from 8 AM to 10 AM.

Updated (11/1/25 7:22 am): I had a typo above that made the pickup up time 14 hours long rather than two! I’m also adding the info that the Community Needs Assessment: Findings & Analysis event on Tuesday evening will now be hybrid to allow virtual participation.
