Algonquin’s three undefeated teams extended their hot streaks. Boys Basketball improved its record last week. And since I last posted, the MIAA published Power Rankings for Basketball and Hockey.
Here are my highlights from ARHS varsity sports competitions last week and the schedule for this week.
Boys Basketball beat North Middlesex 54-48 on Tuesday, and followed up with a 62-46 win over Grafton on Friday. Their record is now 7–3. The MIAA Power Rankings, updated this morning, rank the Titans as #33 out of 66 Division 1 teams.
Girls Basketball’s performance remained mixed with a 58-26 loss against St. Mary’s on Tuesday, followed by a 47-42 win over Grafton on Friday. Their record is now just 6–4. But, so far, they are on track to make the playoff brackets, with a ranking of #20 of 57 D1 teams.
The Titans’ Swim Teams each racked up two more wins, bringing their records to 9–0. In Tuesday’s meet against Wachusett, the Boys won 91-59 and the Girls 89-75. On Thursday, the Boys beat AMSA 87-78 and the Girls again won 89-75.
Girls Hockey’s even bigger winning streak continued. The Titans’ co-op team is now 12–0 after wins over Peabody (6-0) and Waltham (5-1). They are currently in the top spot in the D1 rankings.
ARHS Boys Hockey are ranked #25 out of 38 Division 2 teams. Last week they headed in the wrong direction with two more losses and a tie, lowering their record to 4–5–1. The losses were to Wachusett (4-2) and Framingham (yesterday, 7-1).
The in-between tie was 4-4 with Hopkinton at the annual Brian K Arsenault Night game on Saturday. Sports photographer Jeff Slovin posted photo highlights from the event on Instagram:

The Indoor Track teams were again busy over the last week. You can find the results here for the 3rd Central Mass/MidWach League Meet the Boys and Girls teams competed in on Wednesday. You can also see Slovin’s photo highlights below:

On Sunday, runners competed at the MSTCA Kalperis Relays for Division 2. The Girls team ranked #2 out of 20 schools and the Boys #11 out of 23. You can find the full results here.
This weekend, they’ll head to another invitational in Boston.
The Boys Wrestling team beat North Middlesex in a home meet last Wednesday, 48-24. That was followed by hosting a five-way meet on Saturday. Unfortunately, it seems that no results were posted for the matches that Titans competed in. But there were photo highlights posted by Slovin:

There are also no posted results for the two meets that ARHS Girls Gymnastics competed in last week at home and Marlborough. For the home meet, Slovin posted photo highlights from the team’s Senior Night:
