In this week’s Planning Board meeting, members heard from developers proposing the first large development under Southborough’s MBTA Communities Zoning bylaw voters passed last fall. Read the full article → from Developers hope to build 60 rental units on Southville Road
The Select Board plans to ask Southborough voters to approve funding 1-3 Feasibility Studies for a school renovation or addition, plus urgently needed work on the Neary School roof.
The ask will be presented at a Special Town Meeting, tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 7th. If the expense is high enough, Town election voters may also need to approve a ballot measure in May. Rec is asking for feedback on a park upgrade that would add two public amenities the Town is currently lacking: a splash pad, and a dog park.

Officials are working towards holding another Special Town Meeting on spending on Southborough school buildings. But this time, there will be big differences.
The Select Board and School Committee are targeting spring for a meeting that will focus on Feasibility Studies and Schematic Plans. In a hearing last week, the Assessor estimated that bills for an average Single Family Home in Southborough will increase by 7.6% as a result.
