STM Article 16: Adding a new SPD Lieutenant (Updated – again)
Voters will be asked to add another Police Lieutenant position to the budget to help deal with a "staffing crisis".
According to Police Chief Ryan Newell, the Southborough Police Department has a staffing crisis. The SPD has lost eight officers in the last 21 months. And his second in command has an “overwhelming” workload.

SPD warning about “Irish Traveler” construction scam in our area
Southborough Police issued another warning on Facebook about scams targeting seniors. Referred to as “the Irish Traveler Scam”, yesterday’s message includes an example of a purported attempt in by a man with an Irish accent to con an elderly woman in a “local” town. SPD on auto thefts and valuables stolen from unlocked vehicles early this morning
Two vehicles were recovered; one Framingham minor was arrested but other unidentified suspects are "at large".
Southborough Police issued a press release this morning about their “early morning” pursuit and arrest of a minor who allegedly was one of multiple thieves that stole cars and took items from “unsecured vehicles throughout the south side of Town”.
