We don’t know the outcome of all races yet, but we do know how Southborough voted. All three precincts have reported, and here are the results. Green text means the candidate or question won the Southborough vote. A green arrow means the candidate or question is the declared winner.

Strength beyond his years

Get your flu shot this week

A reminder that the Southborough Board of Health is offering flu shots this week. If you’re a town employee, over 65, or considered “high-risk” you can get your shot on Thursday. The rest of us can get vaccinated on Saturday.

Property taxes are on the rise

The Board of Selectmen last night voted to approve a 9% increase in property taxes for fiscal year 2009 (07/01/08 – 06/30/09). That works out to an average increase of $648 per family.
Property taxes are based on real estate valuations. In Southborough, the average valuation for a single family home decreased from $576,600 in FY2008

I voted earlier today at Trottier. The place was bustling, but lines were short or nonexistent. I was in and out in 5 minutes.

Reminder: New hours for the Town House

The Town House will be open new hours starting this week.

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Tuesday: 8:00 am – 7:00 pm
Friday: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

The new schedule will be in effect until March 27, 2009.

Get ye to the polls

In the 2006 statewide election, Southborough’s voter turnout was 71%, 10 points higher than the state average. (Trying to remember what was on the ballot in 2006? Liquor sales in grocery stores for one. Deval Patrick for another.)
