Next week, the Economic Development Committee is sponsoring an event for small business owners and entrepreneurs. (Or even those just thinking about launching a business.)

An open house will be held on Wednesday, May 20 from 6:30-8:30 pm a the Southborough Library. The evening will introduce the community to a free “tremendous local resource – the SCORE network.”

The EDC encourages:

Invest an hour in your business – Learn what SCORE can do for your business.

If you aren’t familiar with SCORE, it’s a national volunteer driven organization that supports small businesses:

[Boston Chapter] members, both retired and working, have significant experience in the ownership, operation and/or management of both small and large businesses in many fields. Members offer free counseling and mentoring to those who wish to start or build existing businesses

The chapter has several branch offices. And now, thanks to EDC, executives will be working in Southborough. The committee recruited SCORE to offer office hours at the library for Southborough business owners.

The open house is being held to launch the program. Executives from SCORE will explain their free resources. Immediately following, advisors will hold one-to-one sessions to offer business advice. Or you can schedule an appointment for a future date.

The Economic Development Committee is sponsoring this event for small business owners (or those thinking of starting a business) to learn of a tremendous local resource – the SCORE network.

SCORE offers a variety of ways for the small business owner to tap into the real-world experience and proven expertise of its counselors.

Whether you are looking to start a business, grow, or simply find a better path to increased profitability, there is a SCORE resource for you:

  • Writing/updating a business plan
  • Managing employees
  • Increasing sales
  • Maximizing profits
  • Training and development
  • and more (What is your issue?)

Learn about SCORE and the free resources. Meet the two Southborough SCORE executives at this ‘open house’. You will be able to sit with them right away in a one-on-one setting or schedule a future date for follow-on mentoring.
