Obituary: Alfred R. Collotta, 85

Alfred R. Collotta, 85, of Southborough and a longtime resident of Framingham, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of Dorothy (Patti) Collotta for over 59 years.

Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Samuel and Marianna (Piscatello) Collotta.

Al was a 1948 graduate of Framingham High School who has remained an active member of the class and was on all of the reunion committees. He owned and operated Collotta’s Barber Shop on Hartford Street in Framingham for over 65 years. Al loved being a barber, but his greatest joy was his family. He was a member of the Framingham Columbus Club, the Knights of Columbus; St Matthew’s Church of Southborough and formerly a member of St. Tarcisius Church of Framingham.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Ellen Armbruster and her husband Neil of Stratford, CT; Steven Collotta and his wife Joy of West Dennis; Alfred A. Collotta and his wife Christine of Shrewsbury; Peter Collotta and his wife Victoria of Framingham; his brother, Anthony Collotta and his wife Carmella of Framingham; his grandchildren, Gregory and Christopher, Jennifer, Jaclyn and Vincent; and his great grandson, Joseph. He is predeceased by a brother Ray and a sister Mary. 

At the request of the family there will be no calling hours.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 14, at 10:30 AM at St. Matthew Church, 26 Highland Street, Southborough. Burial will follow in St. Tarcisius Cemetery in Framingham.
