Post image for No races in Town election yet (Updated)

As I shared earlier this week, candidates for Town election have less than a month to to pull and file papers.

Several potential candidates completed the first step. As of yesterday afternoon, only one of them was “new blood”.

Former Chair of the (appointed) Personnel Board, Stephen Morreale, is running for moderator this year. But even that doesn’t make for a race. According to Town Clerk, Jim Hegarty, current Moderator David Coombs said he isn’t planning to run for re-election. (Though, he does have time to change his mind.)

All the other candidates pulled papers for seats they already occupy.

Interested in throwing your hat in the ring?

Swing by the Town Clerk’s office by noon on March 18th. Then you only need to collect 44 voter signatures by March 21st to make the ballot.

Now here’s who’s pulled papers so far:

Moderator – vote for one – 1 year term
Stephen A. Morreale, 58 Oregon Road

Board of Selectmen – vote for two – 3 year term
Bonnie Phaneuf, 179 Middle Road (candidate for re-election)
John F. Rooney, III, 35 Edgewood Road (candidate for re-election)

Board of Assessors – vote for one – 3 year term
Jeffrey W. Klein, 237 Parkerville Road (candidate for re-election)

Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds – vote for one – 3 year term
Nicholas McCoy, 10 Jericho Hill Road (candidate for re-election)

Board of Health – vote for one – 3 year term
Mary Lou Woodford, 18 Bigelow Road (candidate for re-election)

Board of Trustees – Southborough Library – vote for two – 3 year term
Richard Wallace, 18 Clifford Street (candidate for re-election)
Marguerite Landry, 134 Deerfoot Road (candidate for re-election)

Board of Trustees – Southborough Library – vote for one – 1 year term
Dolores Fallon, 36 Gilmore Road (currently appointed to office)**

School Committee (K-8) – vote for one – 3 year term
Roger W. Challen, 29 Oak Hill Road (candidate for re-election)

Northborough-Southborough Regional School Committee – vote for one – 3 year term
Daniel L. Kolenda, 7 Blendon Woods Road (candidate for re-election)

**Dolores Fallon is currently serving on the Board of Library Trustees as an interim appointment, therefore not officially listed as a “candidate for re-election”.

Updated (2/24/16 4:05 pm) Just inserted the news that Coombs isn’t planning to run again this year.

Updated (2/25/16 7:30 am) Fixed footnote mistakenly listing Fallon as serving on Planning Board.
