Yesterday, a man was arrested in Hopkinton on several charges connected to a drive-by shooting in Framingham. According to Southborough Wicked Local, a police chase by Framingham and Ashland police continued into Hopkinton.

There it became a manhunt on foot including a K-9 unit and area police. According to the report, the Southborough PD were part of that search team.

The search was successful, ending in the suspect’s capture inside an unoccupied Hopkinton home:

At approximately 5 p.m. [Sunday], Framingham and Ashland police attempted to stop a vehicle identified in connection with a shooting in Framingham. When [the suspect] failed to stop, police chased him into Hopkinton along Rte. 135. [The suspect] eventually crashed his vehicle. . . then fled on foot.

With help from Ashland, Hopkinton, Framingham, Southborough, Upton, Holliston and State Police, the area was searched. [The suspect] was eventually located by a member of Ashland’s K-9 unit. He was charged with breaking and entering, malicious destruction of property and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash with property damage. . .

“This arrest serves as another example of the value of multijurisdictional response to emergency situations,” Hopkinton Police Chief Ed Lee said. “The rapid mobilization we saw tonight resulted in the capture of a potentially violent suspect.”
