The Southborough Police Department had another busy week. It wasn’t all just downed wires and traffic stops – though they had plenty of that. It also included some drama covered by local media.
On Monday, the SPD shared a warning related to an “Animal Complaint” in town:
There was a Black Bear sighting in the area of Route 30 (near the Westborough town line) today. A reminder to our residents: Please take in bird feeders, keep outdoor trash covered, and keep other food sources out of reach. The Environmental Police and the Animal Control Officer were both notified of the sighting.
But that’s not the big incident. That happened at the turn of Saturday. An arrest from that morning’s logs was covered by Southborough Wicked Local:
Police tracked down a Framingham man who they say fled from a crash rollover on Central Street early Saturday morning.
A homeowner called 911 just after 1 a.m. to report the flipped 2005 Nissan Maxima and that driver appeared to be OK. When Patrolman John Officer arrived the driver had already taken off into the woods. . .
Officer followed footprints in the snow until losing the tracks near the Fayville Athletic Association. Ashland Officer Rob Araujo and state police arrived to help, including police dog, Duke.
After searching for more than an hour and a half, [the accused] was found walking along the railroad tracks. . .
Sgt. Sean McCarthy used the Fire Department’s hand-held thermal imager to attempt to locate Pereira’s heat signature in the frigid temperatures.
