Running with the Goats – Saturday

Above: You can enjoy a really “fun run”, complete with goats, at the farm this Saturday or take part in a longer race while the goats look on. (images contributed by TTOR and Barn to Run)

Another organization is asking you to break out your sneakers for this weekend. I already posted about Relay for Life and the NECC 5K. Now, I have news that the 4th annual “Running of the Goats” is also this Saturday.

Serious runners’ choices have expanded to include a 3.4 mile, 5 mile, and 6.6 mile trail race. Or you can take part in the ¼ mile fun run with “kids” that is the reason for the event name.

Join us for Chestnut Hill Farm’s 4th annual trail race and fun run, where runners of all abilities can race against the clock — or the goats!

Barn to Run - running with the goatsRunners can race the 3.4, 5, or 6.6 mile course. Your entry fee not only includes a great run and well-marked course, but swag, free race photos, and post-race beer from Zelus Beer Company (must be 21 or older). Race pricing varies by race course and registration deadlines; see registration link below for details.

The Running with the Goats is a 0.25 downhill “fun run” that lets you run with the farm’s adorable and friendly baby and mama goats. This event starts at 11am sharp, so be sure to get there early! Cost is $5 per youth (age 5-18) and $10 per adult (age 19+), and the event is expected to sell out in advance of race day.

Race festivities include food (baguettes and goat cheese, CLIF Bars), awards, sponsor giveaways, massage from Marathon Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, and more.

Plus you can see the goats, hit up Sabor Latino’s food truck, and visit the farm stand’s amazing plant sale – there will be many gorgeous spring veggies and herbs available for your garden.
