Marty Healey and Sam Stivers elected to Board of Selectmen

The unofficial results are in. Congratulations to Marty Healey and Sam Stivers. Both men were elected to join the Board of Selectmen. Each was selected by over half of the voters who weighed in on the Town election.

Only 1,199 Southborough residents (16.5% of registered voters) cast ballots in this year’s election. That’s .02% lower than last year.

Healey was the top vote getter with 706 votes. Stivers, who lost three past runs for the board, came in 2nd this time around. He garnered 637 votes.

Joseph Hubley came in 3rd place with 573 and Steven David, the newcomer to Town politics, finished last with 258 votes.

Congratulations and thank you to Mr. Sam Stivers and Mr. Marty Healy. It is wonderful to have these two fine, hard working, selfless gentlemen in office. Wishing you both all the best for many successes as Selectmen.

I want to thank all the candidates that chose to run, particularly those that stood for Selectmen. They offered us a choice and stood for what they believed in. It is no fun to lose, I know, but they took the risk and stood in the arena.

Now that the voters have spoken, I truly hope that these two new members of the BOS keep their promises to the taxpayers, to keep spending and taxes under control and do what’s right for our town, Congratulations to you both
