The Southborough Recreation announced that Pickleball is back on this summer. The free, semi-weekly event is being offered to Southborough residents that are 55 years or older.

Rec describes the game as:

A fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

No registration is required for the drop-in program. But Rec does include caveats:

The Recreation Department reserves the right to limit the number of drop-in players and to cancel any activities. This program meets almost every week weather permitting.

The number of paddles available are limited. So players are encouraged to bring their own equipment if possible.

The fun is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 am – noon at the Richardson Tennis Courts, on the Neary School campus (53 Parkerville Road).

You may recall that a few years ago the courts were resurfaced and painted with the pickleball lines.

The program is scheduled to run July through August.
